NORFOLK, Neb. — The Nebraska School Activities Association certified enrollment figures on Thursday that will place Lincoln Pius X and Omaha Benson in Class B in football for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
Holdrege also will be in Class C-1 for football for the first time, with Adams Central returning to Class B after a two-year absence.
Omaha Central, with a three-year (grades 9, 10 and 11) enrollment of 1,889, is the state's largest high school. The next two are Millard North (1,868) and Millard West (1,823).
Nate Neuhaus of the NSAA said he hopes to have classifications and district assignments made next week.
Hearings on the eligibility of boys basketball players from Lithuania who are attending Lincoln Parkview and Norfolk Catholic have been delayed at the request of the schools from Tuesday until possibly Dec. 20.
NSAA Executive Director Rhonda Blanford-Green said Nebraska City Lourdes, which also has a Lithuanian player, has accepted her finding and the NSAA board at its Thursday meeting tabled setting that player's length of ineligibility until the other cases are conducted by a hearing officer.
