Creighton University's president is recovering at home after a heart procedure, he told faculty in an email Friday.
The Rev. Timothy Lannon said he has had an irregular heartbeat for 10 years, and he underwent a scheduled procedure at Creighton University Medical Center on Monday to correct it. He returned home on Tuesday.
Lannon, 63, felt ill while leading Mass on Thanksgiving at St. John Church on the Creighton campus and was hospitalized for a almost a week.
“The support and kindness you have shown me through these past couple of weeks has been generous and appreciated,” Lannon said in the email.
Lannon, who has led Creighton since 2011, said he hopes to return from holiday visits with family for the men's basketball game against Marquette on Dec. 31, and he will rest for a couple weeks more after that.
“I look forward to rejoining you as soon as possible,” Lannon wrote.
