Director-screenwriter Alexander Payne is executive producing a short movie for his longtime assistant in Los Angeles, Anna Musso.
“Run Fast,” the story of a Kenyan runner who travels to L.A. to compete in her first professional marathon, will be filmed in March in Los Angeles. The movie profiles the relationship between the runner, Vivian, and her sponsor, Peter, an aging former runner.
“Run Fast” is being made under the banner of Payne's production company, Ad Hominem. Musso has launched a Kickstarter online campaign to fund the film.
Musso's previous short, “L Train,” won the Women in Film award at the Sundance Film Festival and best short at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Payne, a double Oscar winner, grew up in Omaha. His sixth feature, “Nebraska,” is currently in theaters and is widely seen as a contender in several Academy Award categories.
