A northward surge of warmth on Dec. 17 contributed to more than 15 daily high temperature records being set or matched in Nebraska.
One of the reporting stations that saw a record high also set a record low less than two weeks earlier.
Alliance had a record low of 25 degrees below zero on Dec. 6. The previous record for the date was 19 degrees below zero set in 1972.
On Dec. 17, last Thursday, Alliance set a record high when the temperature reached 71 degrees. The previous record for the date was 68 degrees in 1980.
