LINCOLN — State officials announced Friday that Wilkins Hinrichs Stober Architects has been chosen as the lead architect for the planned new Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney.
The Kearney firm will head up a team of nine specialized consultants providing all services required for the project.
John Hilgert, director of veterans homes for the Department of Health and Human Services, said no contract will be signed until the federal government grants the funds required for the project.
Federal officials ranked the project No. 22 in priority for this funding year. The ranking does not guarantee money will be available.
Wilkins Hinrichs Stober has planned and designed more than 100 senior care projects, including the Grand Island Good Samaritan Village and the Holdrege Christian Homes Assisted and Independent Living facility.
The firm also has worked for Central Community College in Hastings and the Kearney Public Schools, including its $40 million elementary school bond issue projects and $90 million high school and middle school projects.
