Five local chefs are being honored for supporting local farmers and producers as part of the first Producer’s Choice Chef Awards and Dinner.
The event, a mashup of awards ceremony, culinary competition and fundraiser, will feature Omaha chefs Clayton Chapman of the Grey Plume, Paul Kulik of the Boiler Room, Nick Strawhecker from Dante Ristorante, Joel Mahr from Lot 2 and Lincoln chef Matt Roush from Bread and Cup.
Members of the Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society who are also farmers voted for the chefs who they believe best support and promote local farmers and food.
The five chefs will prepare and serve a five course meal to attendees. The event takes place Jan. 19 at the Metropolitan Community College Institute for Culinary Arts, 32nd and Sorensen Parkway. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour and the dinner starts at 6.
The event is a fundraiser for NSA and tickets are $125 per person, including the cocktail hour, which will feature Glacial Till vintner and Modern Monks brewery.

Fleming's offering new Sunday special
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse is having a Sunday special that will last through the beginning of February.
The restaurant will serve a fixed-price three-course prime rib dinner for $29.95 a person. The menu includes a wedge salad or a Caesar salad, Prime Rib and the dessert of the diner’s choice. The menu continues through Feb. 2.
