Activity among Omaha-area businesses using Bitcoin is sparse at best, but a free event tonight at CoVis Coworking aims to clear up some confusion about the virtual currency.
Skid Vis, owner and founder of CoVis, will present a brief discussion about how Bitcoin can be relevant to and accepted by small businesses.
“A lot of people, if they’re aware of Bitcoin, are concerned with its volatility, and I want to show them there are ways you can actually protect your assets and not be influenced or affected by that volatility,” Vis said.
For example, app developers have devised tools that instantly convert Bitcoin to U.S. dollars, charging only transaction fees that are “lower than any credit card or PayPal,” Vis said.
The presentation begins at 5:30 p.m. in the coworking space at 920 S. 107th Ave., #106.
Seating is still available for the event and registration can be found here.
