KEARNEY, Neb. — A Kearney man has been cited for misdemeanor child abuse after allegedly leaving his child unattended in a vehicle Wednesday.
About 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, a Kearney woman reported her 1-year-old son had been left unattended in a running vehicle. When Kearney police arrived, they located the child’s father inside his home.
A police report says the man was unable to say how long his son had been left unattended in his vehicle.
The man was given a preliminary breath test, which, according to the police report, registered at .377.
In addition to the child abuse citation, the man was arrested and taken to the Buffalo County Jail on a Dawson County probation violation for a 2012 conviction for driving under the influence.
The child was unharmed and was released to his mother.
