DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge near Missouri Valley, Iowa, will offer free admission Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Fee-free days are offered periodically throughout the year to encourage Americans to explore national parks, wildlife refuges, forests and other public lands.
On these days, national wildlife refuges that charge a fee, as well as other public lands within the Departments of the Interior and Agriculture, waive entrance fees.
The DeSoto visitor center will be closed Monday, however. Refuge tour roads and access to DeSoto Lake for ice fishing will be open.
