Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis will seek his third term in 2014.
Davis, appointed sheriff in 2005, was elected the following year and re-elected in 2010.
As of Friday, no other candidate had filed for the office.
Davis, 58, is a Republican.
He said in an announcement that he has not yet begun fundraising for his campaign but has $20,000 in cash on hand.
Davis is a 40-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office.
A Papillion resident, he pointed to his advocacy of the school resource officer program and his development of the “active shooter’’ protocol in Sarpy County schools as among his accomplishments.
