Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday for the Broadway touring musical “Wicked,” which is coming to the Orpheum Theater May 7 to 25.
Tickets, $35 to $150, are on sale online at ticketomaha.com, by phone at 402-345-0606 or toll-free at 1-866-434-8587.
This is the third “Wicked” tour to visit Omaha, following runs that opened in May 2009 and May 2011. The 2004 multiple Tony winner tells the backstory of “The Wizard of Oz” from the witches’ point of view.
While in Omaha, the “Wicked” tour will team with the Anti-Defamation League and Omaha Performing Arts to sponsor an anti-bullying summit May 8 at the Holland Center and the Orpheum.
The summit will engage students from grades 8 through 11, youth group leaders, counselors and teachers in seeking ways to prevent bullying in schools. Bullying is a central theme in the plot of “Wicked,” and a matinee performance is part of the summit. Cost is $30 per person, which includes the ticket to “Wicked,” all activities and materials.
The application deadline for the summit is Feb. 15. Information: online at omahaperformingarts.org/educate. Click on the “additional learning” tab.
