Three traffic accidents involving up to eight vehicles, possibly due to slick driving conditions more than 24 hours after a 4-inch snowstorm moved through the area, stacked up commuters Thursday morning on Interstate 80 in Omaha.
Eastbound and westbound traffic was brought to a near standstill in some locations along I-80 in the vicinity of 72nd Street after the three accidents, which occurred during a 20-minute period.
One of the crashes involved eight vehicles.
According to Douglas County emergency 911 dispatch reports, the accidents occurred at:
— 8:35 a.m., eastbound I-80 at 72nd, one vehicle and a utility pole down.
— 8:45 a.m., eastbound I-80 at 72nd, six vehicles.
— 8:55 a.m., westbound I-80 at 72nd, one vehicle.
