TEMPE, Ariz. — Creighton scored six runs in the first two innings and held on from there to earn a 6-4 upset of No. 24 California on Saturday at the Kajikawa Classic.
The win was the first by the Bluejays (3-2) over a ranked team since a victory over No. 21 Tulsa last March.
Jen Daro delivered the big blow for the Jays, belting a three-run shot — her first career home run — to give CU a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Liz Dike added a two-run double in the second inning, giving Creighton starter Becca Changstrom all the cushion she needed.
Changstrom didn't allow a hit till the fourth inning, but had two work out of jams in the last two innings to secure the win.
Creighton takes next weekend off before returning to play Feb. 21 at the UTA Hilton Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
