CHICAGO — The Creighton women couldn't climb the Big East standings as they lost 80-66 at DePaul on Sunday.
The loss dropped the Bluejays to 14-10, including 8-4 in the conference. CU remains in third place in the Big East, while second-place DePaul improved to 19-5 and 10-2.
McKenzie Fujan led the Bluejays with 18 points. Marissa Janning and Sarah Nelson added 16 and 14 points, respectively.
The Bluejays dug themselves a 38-21 halftime deficit, in part due to the Blue Demons ending the half on a 17-3 run and by shooting 23 percent (7 of 31 from the field) from the field — including 0 for 10 from beyond the arc.
Down 52-36 with 13:10 remaining, Creighton mounted a rally.
Nelson's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 58-53. The Bluejays had two chances to make it a one-possession game, but were unable to get any closer as DePaul scored the next 10 points.
Creighton returns to action Saturday, hosting Providence in the Play4Kay game at 2:05 p.m.
