AMES, Iowa (AP) — Police said they will not file charges against a man involved in a two-hour standoff in Ames.
Geoff Huff with the Ames Police Department said authorities are not anticipating any criminal charges in the case. He described it as “more of a mental health call than anything else.”
The man, whose identity will not be released, was located behind a restaurant Sunday night. His family had contacted police earlier and expressed concern about him.
Authorities evacuated the restaurant, and the man later surrendered.
