LINCOLN — The Big Ten honored a Husker player for the second straight week when it named senior Christian DeLeon the conference’s pitcher of the week Monday.
DeLeon helped Nebraska upset No. 2 Oregon State by allowing just four hits and one unearned run over seven innings Friday. The right-hander from Richmond, Texas, struck out five batters in a 9-2 victory.
It’s the first time since Nebraska joined the Big Ten that it’s had a pitcher earn the weekly award. Senior Michael Pritchard was named the league’s player of the week on Feb. 18.
The Huskers (4-3) will next face The Citadel (2-5) in a three-game series beginning at 4 p.m. Friday in Charleston, S.C.
