PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — The UNO baseball team earned its first win of the season Tuesday, defeating St. Bonaventure 6-2 at the Snowbird Classic.
Sophomore Marcus Ethen picked up the win for the Mavs (1-3), tossing six innings of scoreless relief. Ethen, who entered in the fourth inning, allowed three hits and one walk while striking out eight.
Senior Tyler Splichal led UNO at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore Clayton Taylor had two hits, including his first home run of the year, and had two RBIs.
Robert Calvano started for UNO, allowing three hits and two runs in three innings. He struck out one and walked one.
The Mavs continue play at the Snowbird Classic at 1:30 p.m. Thursday against Chicago State.
