Omaha police have challenged area law enforcement agencies and fire departments to get behind a campaign to brighten a young Rhode Island leukemia patient's birthday.
Rachel Seddon, mother of 6-year-old Tyler, has asked in a Facebook effort that cards from first responders, including police officers and firefighters, be sent to her son, who is battling leukemia for the second time in three years.
A Facebook page called Tyler's Troops was set up Monday, according to his mother, who said Tyler is a big fan of first responders.
He turns 7 on March 6.
Omaha police, on their Facebook page, have urged the Omaha and Council Bluffs Fire Departments; Bellevue, La Vista and Papillion Police Departments; the Nebraska State Patrol; and Douglas, Washington and Sarpy County Sheriff's Offices to send cards.
Tyler's address is 96 South Main St., Pascoag, R.I. 02859.
