'Heart-bombing' event to highlight vacant buildings for potential reuse

  • 0

They may be old and empty, but they deserve some love, too.

That’s what Restoration Exchange says about vacant historic buildings in Omaha. In that spirit, the group is organizing a Valentines “heart-bombing” event in which participants will be affixing hearts and other warm messages to a small number of buildings to highlight their potential for reuse.

The event is to take place in two parts. Interested participants are asked to meet this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Architectural Offices, 4610 Dodge St., to create the heart signs. Materials will be provided. Park in the back.

Then on Feb. 14, participants are to meet again at 10 a.m. at the Architectural Offices for the announcement and history of the “heart bomb” locations, and the mission will begin. The afternoon is to end with free food and drinks at a historic building site to be disclosed that morning.
