Former west Omaha Egg & I to reopen as First Watch cafe

What was an Egg & I restaurant in west Omaha will officially reopen as a First Watch cafe on Saturday.

The restaurant at 2855 S. 168th St. has undergone a rebranding and a renovation over the past few months, but has remained open throughout the changes.

The breakfast and lunch chain touts its healthier options like house-made granola and a fresh juice bar.

First Watch bought the Egg & I chain in 2015. Greg Cutchall, owner of Omaha’s First Watch cafe near 72nd and Pacific Streets, recently bought the four metro-area Egg & I restaurants and is in the process of converting them to First Watch restaurants. The renovations should be completed within the next year or so, Cutchall has said.

The other three Egg & I restaurants to undergo a remodel are near 144th Street and West Maple Road; in Papillion near 84th Street and Highway 370; and in Bellevue near Highway 75 and Cornhusker Road.
