They need one great tenant and i think others would follow Nordstrom Rack maybe, Macys, then othes would follow
I would agree and always wonder why they couldn't fill at least one of the empty spots. But the other side of that coin is that the owners of Oakview haven't put the money back into it to keep it viable like Westroads did. Everyone thought Westroads was heading out and know they are back on top.
Your photo caption saying that Oak View opened 12 years ago is incorrect. Oak View opened 29 years ago.
The photo is from
2003. Saying the mall has been open at that time for 12 years which is correct
The city of Omaha is kind of pathetic. They just like shiny new toys and don’t care what it costs. It used to be Downtown and Crossroads where the people went. Than came Westroads and Oakview. That put Crossroads and D town in the dumps. Now we are spending money on revitalizing both d town and crossroads. Up comes Village Pointe and the new Boystown district. That put Oakview out and in 4 years will destroy Westroads. I am guessing in 10 years the city will want to revamp both. As much as Omaha pretends to be a “big city” we are not. Nothing is stable in this city from shopping to the flash in the pan restaurants. Even the sports teams come and go.
Don’t you know shopping indoors is so 1990s. I must and will only shop outside in an open air environment while I sip my Starbucks and take selfies of myself. I would never be caught dead in Oakview.
Malls are struggling and closing all across America, not just in Omaha. This is a common problem. I would think developers and architects would have come up with more creative plans by now to re-purpose the land and potentially the buildings. Of course, that's easy for me to say as I am neither a developer or an architect.
