Scouting Creighton: The Bluejays will be playing their only exhibition before Friday’s season opener at Drake. … Creighton will be without freshman MC McGrory, who is out with a concussion. All other 10 players on the roster are expected to see action. … The Bluejays return four starters from their NCAA tournament team, including freshman All-American Marissa Janning (pictured at right). Janning and senior Sarah Nelson are preseason All-Big East picks. … Nelson had the most assists by a post player (115) in Division I last season. … Creighton made a school-record 302 3-pointers last season and returns players who accounted for 230 of those baskets. Janning led the team with 74 3-pointers, and four other players who made at least 25 from beyond the arc are back.

Scouting Fort Hays State: The Tigers were picked fourth in the MIAA preseason poll with nine letterwinners returning from a team that won 22 games last season. … Kate Lehman, a 6-foot-4 junior center, is Fort Hays’ top returning player. She earned first-team all-conference honors last season. She also was selected the MIAA’s defensive player of the year. Lehman led the Tigers in scoring (16.4 points per game), rebounding (8.4) and blocked shots (123). … One other full-time starter is back in senior guard Katelyn Edwards from Crete, Neb., who averaged 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds last season. … Senior Tera Ingalsbe, the first player off the bench last season, returns after finishing third on the team in scoring and fourth in rebounding. … Fort Hays has five Nebraskans on its roster — Edwards, Beth Bohuslavsky (Dwight), Chelsea Mason (Bellevue), Jill Faxon (Beatrice) and Keriann Shaw (Deweese).

Opening tips: Kamphaus and Fort Hays’ Bohuslavsky were teammates at Seward High. … CU plays its first regular-season home game Nov. 12 against South Dakota State.
