Events offer chance to shred worries about identity theft

  • 0

To avoid worries about identity theft, two events are scheduled that will let you safely and permanently dispose of documents and materials that contain your personal information.

Both shredding events are free and open to the public:

• The Bank of Bennington in partnership with Data Shield will hold an Information Destruction and Recycling Collection event on April 25.

Open to businesses as well as individuals, the event will allow people to not only safely destroy personal documents but also drop off laptops, computer towers and cellphones for recycling. (No monitors or other electronics will be accepted.)

The event will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at the bank at 12212 N. 156th St.

For more information, contact Chris Burchell at 402-238-2245 or at cburchell@bankbenn.com.

• The AARP Information Center and the Shred-It Company will sponsor a Personal Document Shredding Event on May 16.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Center Mall, 42nd and Center Streets. Come to the top level, east parking lot.

Unloading assistance is available.

Call 402-398-9568 for more information.
