"The Voice" kept its Nebraska representative Tuesday night.

Hannah Huston, a teacher from Lincoln, is headed to the next round of the singing show among this season's top 9 contestants.

On Monday, Huston sang Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," and she was saved from elimination via public voting on Tuesday's installment.

She also was featured twice during the episode, including answering a question about her coach, pop star Pharrell Williams.

"It's truly humbling to know he turned around at the very beginning," Huston said. "It's been a growing experience. He encouraged me to believe in myself. He's a true coach."

Huston's mother, Candy, appeared in the show's Mother's Day segment.

"It's amazing to watch her. It's a very joyful thing," Candy Huston said, fighting off tears.

The season finale of "The Voice" will come later this month.

Mary Sarah, a Nashville singer with ties to Omaha, also advanced to the top 9.— Kevin Coffey
