Survived by wife of 58 years, Ute; daughters, Ellen (Lloyd) Rowe, Karen (John) Hovanec; son Ralph (MaryJo) Losch; grandchildren, Theresa (Brandon) McGeehan, Matthew (Kaitlyn) Hovanec, Anchor, Belle, Caravel and Diesel Losch; great-grandson Charles McGeehan; brother Hartmut (Rita) Losch; sister Siglinde Kuczmejno. Fred was born in Lotzen, East Prussia, Germany. As a young man, he served 2 and half years in a Russian labor camp after WWII. After immigrating to America in 1951, he joined the USAF where he served for 27 years. He wrote the story of his unique life entitled "Opa's Tales" – a gift to his children and grandchildren. He loved to travel, share stories, sing songs and eat chocolate.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE celebrating his life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the German-American Society, 3717 S 120th Street, Omaha, NE. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers Association or DeLaSalle Education Center in Kansas City. Fred donated his body for medical research to the Nebraska Anatomical Board.
