REDWINGS 2, BLUE JACKETS 1, SO: Riley Sheahan scored in a shootout and had the tying goal in the second period to help Detroit snap a four game losing streak.

LIGHTNING 2, COYOTES 1: Steven Stamkos scored a goal in his fourth consecutive game, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves as Tampa Bay won its fourth straight.

ISLANDERS 4, WILD 1: Frans Nielsen scored twice, John Tavares had a goal and an assist and New York won the matchup of surging teams and handed new Minnesota interim coach John Torchetti his first loss.

STARS 5, JETS 3: Dallas scored three times in the final period, two goals coming from Jamie Benn, to end a three-game skid.

SENATORS 4, OILERS 1: Zack Smith had a goal and an assist as Ottawa ran its winning streak to four games. Nick Paul, Alex Chiasson and Mark Stone also scored.

NOTES

CAPS TRADE FOR DEFENSEMAN Washington acquired defenseman Mike Weber from Buffalo for a third-round pick in the 2017 draft. Weber gives the NHL-leading Capitals veteran depth on the blue line.
