Name an Omaha family that will appear on the game show "Family Feud." Survey says: The Coffiel Family.
The five Omaha residents were guests on the national game show hosted by actor and comedian Steve Harvey in July 2015. The episode they participated in will air from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday on the CW (Channel 011 for Cox subscribers).
Timina and Tyrone Brice, Timina's aunt Renee Coffiel, her daughter Alexis Dickerson and cousin Kevin McGee auditioned for the show in October 2014 when a casting call was held in La Vista. Out of 600 families to audition, 30 — including the Coffiel Family — were chosen for a second audition in Atlanta, where the show is filmed.
The selection process took several months. Timina was notified in early 2015 that the family was being considered. She received a call from casting directors a few weeks later.
McGee, an account manager with Credit Advisors, said waiting for notification was the hardest part.
"Sometimes you feel like you're on pins and needles wondering 'Are they going to call us?' " McGee said. "When they do, you can't explain the feeling. You just feel wonderful."
The show paid for the family's airfare and hotel accommodations.
Of the three days they were in Atlanta, most of the time was spent waiting on the set.
Timina, who works in the career center at Creighton University, said her family was chosen to compete on the second day of their visit to the "Family Feud" set.
"We were so nervous," she said. "Just the thought of being on TV would make you nervous, but by the time Steve Harvey gets out there and they start taping, you forget that you are on TV."
