Welcome to the fold, Big Thief.
The Brooklyn band is the latest to sign to Omaha indie label Saddle Creek Records.
Today, the band dropped a new single, "Masterpiece," and announced its debut album.
Listen to "Masterpiece" here:
It's a big, fuzzy song and Adrianne Lenker's light voice weaves tales full of vivid imagery. It reminds me of Mount Moriah's Heather McEntire but with decidely more catchy indie rock vibe.
Apparently they're also killer live. So says Big Thief fan Sharon Van Etten: "Songs that take you on a real journey, with intelligent stories and twist-and-turn melodies. And fun as hell live."
Details on the band's debut album is still forthcoming, but we'll get a taste when the band hits the road next month week.
The band's spring tour will bring them to SXSW in March (where I'll definitely catch them), and then The Lookout Lounge in Omaha on April 3.
From what I've been able to find online, Lenker started the band as more of a solo project. Unfortunately, previous releases under the Big Thief moniker appear to have been scrubbed from the Interwebs.
