Ted Stevens drops new track, 'Dead World'

Ted Stevens – who you know from Cursive, Lullaby For the Working Class and Mayday – let loose a new single to start the new year.

It’s billed as Ted Stevens Unknown Project and the projects’ BandCamp says that it’s the first in a line of singles scheduled to come out this year. (I’m all for that.)

“Dead World” sounds pretty, but the lyrics continue to ask what “made me think that anyone needed me/a their mouthpiece?” It’s a song built almost entirely of questions. (Listen to the track below.)

Stevens wrote the song and performed vocals, guitars, keys and samples. A cadre of good musicians helped out including Dan McCarthy on piano, James Maakestad on bass, Joe Mickeliunas on ebows and Joanne Stevens on vocals. The masterful Ben Brodin engineered it and played percussion.

It’s a good track. I can’t wait to hear more.
