According to ESPNBoston.com, former Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard — currently starting in the NFL Playoffs with the New England Patriots — will stand trial Feb. 11 on charges stemming from an arrest last April.

Dennard — who has been accused of assaulting a Lincoln police officer, along with two other misdemeanors — missed Patriots’ practice Wednesday to attend a pre-trial hearing in Lancaster County Court in Lincoln. The hearing covered, among other things, additional witnesses that the state wanted to call, according to a court official.

New England plays the Baltimore Ravens Sunday in the AFC Championship. Should the Patriots win there, they’ll advance to the Feb. 3 Super Bowl.

Dennard had been a key part of New England’s defense over the last half of the season. He has three interceptions and forced a fumble in the Patriots’ win over Houston Jan. 13.
