The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has named a new chief executive officer for the Beatrice State Developmental Center. Megan Gumbel starts March 15.
Gumbel serves as the northeast regional director for Bethesda Lutheran Communities in Fort Wayne, Indiana, overseeing Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey and Ohio. She previously served as executive director at MDC Goldenrod, a nonprofit that supports people with disabilities.
Gumbel earned her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and her master’s degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan.
“Megan brings the knowledge and experience we had long sought in our next CEO at the Beatrice center,” said Courtney Miller, director of HHS’s Developmental Disabilities Division. “She will play an integral role in the future of BSDC and the well-being of many residents who have never known another home.”
