Handbell choir from Japan to perform at gardens

 


The Glee Handbell Choir from Meiji Gakuin Higashimurayama High School in Tokyo will present a 2 p.m. Saturday concert at Lauritzen Gardens.

The choir includes 14 young women and is recognized as a leading handbell choir in Japan. The Glee Handbell Choir has been part of Meiji Gakuin since 1981.

The ensemble tours the United States biennially and last performed in Omaha in 2011. The choir’s five-week tour also will include a stop in Pella, Iowa.

The Lauritzen performance is included with membership or paid garden admission ($7 adults, $3 children 6-12, free for children younger than 6).
