Which style best fits you?

I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up there were only a few ways to define your personal style.

Styles included preppy, surfer/skater, classic, or boho to name a few. But I ran across a fun article on LuckyMag.com that expands that ever-growing category of personal style types.

So the next time, a style quiz asks, “So what are you,” you’ll know the answer. (I’m sure this is on the top of your list of things to know!)

No. 1 Social Media Peacock

Yep, that’s really what they are calling it. “Peacocks” aren’t afraid to take risks and choose bold prints – the bolder the better – or hard-hitting monochrome. It’s style that screams, “Throw me on Instagram!”

Must-have pieces: Studded footwear, digital prints, and neon anything

No. 2 The Francophile

If you’ve been reading my blogs for even a hot minute, you know that this is my favorite style and one I choose to wear most of all. Why? Because French women always look effortlessly pulled together. (A friend once told me not to wear tennis shoes while touring Paris as I’d stick out like a sore thumb!)

Must-have pieces: Breton stripes, ballet flats, feminine frocks and Chanel-inspired tweed jackets

No. 3 The Festival Fiend

Music festivals have been around for ages, but the fashion world is finally catching up with the fact that there is indeed a “Festival” style. While the festival “it girls” do exhibit a lot of the same pieces as their boho counterparts they tend to steer towards shorter hemlines and slightly more feminine footwear when hitting South by Southwest or Coachella.

Must-have pieces: crossbody bags, gauzy dresses, rompers, stacks of jewelry, hats

No. 4 The Editrix

I love this look, although I tend to wear it NEVER because of my stay-at-home mom lifestyle. The Editrix oozes sophistication with sharp silhouettes and pointy-toed stilettos.

Must-have pieces: pencil skirts, structured bags, strong-shouldered blazers and tailored trousers.

No. 5 Mad Men Extra

This is absolutely another one of my faves. Again, if you’ve read anything I’ve written, you will know that I believe I may have been born in the wrong decade. This mid-century feminine style has made a major comeback since the award winning show Mad Men first aired.

Must-have pieces: full skirts, tie waist tops, low-heeled maryjanes.

No. 6 Bookworm

This is the fashion most often seen in the hallowed halls of an Ivy League library or a coffee shop filled with artist and writer types. It’s like the older, more sophisticated sister of the “prep” and includes a whole lot less green and pink.

Must-have pieces: toggle coats, oxford shoes, pinafore dresses and plaid anything.
