Tree of Lights holiday campaign goal: $3 million

  • 0

This year's goal for Omaha's Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign is $3 million.

The amount was revealed at Friday night's kickoff ceremony, when thousands of LED lights on the large steel tree near 90th Street and West Dodge Road were illuminated for the first time this holiday season.

Ebenezer Scrooge and Jacob Marley from the Omaha Community Playhouse production of “A Christmas Carol” flipped the switch.

All proceeds from the campaign go to support more than 20 local Salvation Army programs, such as food pantries, behavioral services and housing and utility aid. The campaign raised more than $3 million last year.

Red donation kettles are up until Dec. 24 at more than 100 locations across the metropolitan area.
