Briefly: Millard Days celebrating 50th anniversary

People stroll the midway during Millard Days last summer. The celebration, which will run Tuesday through Sunday, is marking its 50th year.


This is a golden year for Millard Days, which will run Tuesday through Sunday at Andersen Park, 136th Street and Millard Avenue.

Activities during this 50th annual celebration will include a daily carnival, 11 a.m. Saturday parade along Millard Avenue from 132nd Street to P Street, live music nightly, Saturday poker run, Sunday auto show, and special children's activities from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

'Renoir,' 'Seraphine' films tie with Joslyn exhibition

Film Streams and Joslyn Art Museum will offer two special screenings tied to “Renoir to Chagall: Paris and the Allure of Color,” an exhibition at Joslyn. Both films will include a post-show discussion led by Dr. Juliette Parnell, a University of Nebraska at Omaha associate professor of French language, cinema and culture.

“Renoir” will be screened at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ruth Sokolof Theater at Film Streams. “Seraphine” will be screened at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at the same location.

Tickets for each showing are $9 for general admission; $7 for Joslyn members presenting their membership ID, senior citizens, students, teachers, military and those arriving by bicycle; and $4.50 for Film Streams members. To purchase tickets online, click here: filmstreams.org.

Seeking arts council grant? Information sessions help

The Nebraska Arts Council will host several grant information sessions in Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha before the Oct. 1 project grant deadline. These sessions will provide an overview of the council's grant programs.

The free information sessions, which last 60 to 90 minutes, are geared primarily toward applicant organizations, but individual artists are welcome. Free small business forum focuses on marketing online

Join Web.com for its free small business forum from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 26 at Champions Run Golf Course, 13800 Eagle Run Drive.

This interactive forum will focus on helping local small businesses learn how to successfully market their business online.
