Autopsy results are pending for a 48-year-old man who died after the owner of a towing company caught him entering the business after hours, Omaha police said Tuesday.

Robert Johnson was taken to Bergan Mercy Medical Center, according to a police report. He later died.

The owner of Kowles Tow Trucks, 6605 C St., told officers he watched via security camera as Johnson entered the property about 8 p.m. Sunday. The owner “apprehended” Johnson, the police report said. He was later taken to the hospital.

The report did not clarify how Johnson was injured, or whether authorities believe Johnson was breaking into the business or trying to retrieve a towed vehicle.
