Two men are facing charges in the alleged theft of copper from a Douglas County construction site.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, which has investigated several recent reports of copper thefts in western parts of the county, said Matthew Polsley, 23, and Tracy Corey, 51, were arrested Tuesday night.

The Sheriff’s Office said about 11 p.m., a surveillance team spotted copper being loaded into the bed of a pickup truck near a construction site at 189th and Sahler Streets.

The pickup was later stopped at Interstate 80 and 43rd Street, and the copper was found in the pickup’s bed. The copper was valued at more than $500.

Polsley and Corey have been charged with felony theft, the Sheriff’s Office said.
