Omaha police were investigating an assault and a robbery that occurred Sunday night:

— North 24th and Sprague Streets, 7:05 p.m.

Officers responded to a radio call over a fight, police said, and they determined that Makenzy Ray, 18, had been cut with a piece of broken glass. Ray was taken to Creighton University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

A 47-year-old was booked on suspicion of second-degree felony assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony, police said.

— North 42nd Street and Bedford Avenue, 8:35 p.m.

Police reported to JNJ Grocery to investigate a robbery. Witnesses told officers that a man in a blue hooded sweatshirt entered the store, pulled a firearm and demanded money.

Officers in the area spotted a man matching the description, police said, and took the 25-year-old man into custody. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of robbery, use of a gun to commit a felony and possession of a gun by a prohibited person.
