DES MOINES — Two nationally prominent Republicans attended a fundraiser for Gov. Terry Branstad on Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour appeared at the event at the National Republican Club of Capitol Hill.
Others invited included fellow Republicans Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. But Cruz was speaking on the Senate floor during the event and the others had scheduling conflicts.
Branstad has not announced his political plans, but he is widely expected to seek a sixth term as governor in 2014.
