  • 0

A 66-year-old Bellevue woman was hospitalized with a life-threatening injury to her abdomen after the car in which she was riding was hit head-on Friday night by another vehicle at 13th and U Streets.

An 18-year-old man was jailed for his alleged role in the accident.

Sharon A. Herall was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center, where she was in critical condition Saturday.

Luther F. Herall, 73, also was at the hospital with a serious abdominal injury. He was in fair condition Saturday.

The wreck occurred about 9:20 p.m. Friday.

Police said Juan Aguilar-Bautista was driving the wrong way on 13th Street when his Dodge minivan hit the Heralls’ Chevrolet sedan.

Aguilar-Bautista was treated for a broken ankle.

He then was booked into jail on suspicion of reckless driving, not having a driver’s license and causing serious injury while driving under the influence.
