COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Iowa Western Community College board of trustees on Monday scheduled a public hearing on the reconstruction of Iowa Western Boulevard, formerly known as Circle Drive.

The hearing is set for 2 p.m. on Feb. 18, which is the board’s next regular meeting. It will be in the Reiver Room of the Student Center, 2700 College Road.

The project — which is slated to be completed in two phases, this summer and next — is estimated to cost $1.7 million, according to HGM Associates Inc.

HGM, which provides architectural, engineering and surveying services, also supplied its proposed costs to the board. Costs for engineering and design, soil testing and plan copies for bidding will total $84,300.

After the contract is awarded, HGM will provide construction administration and oversight.

College officials say this will ensure the project is completed according to plans and specifications. Those fees are estimated at $48,000 for phase one and $50,000 for phase two.
