DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A campaign spokesman for Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley says he collected $2.8 million during the latest fundraising quarter.
Jeff Giertz said Wednesday that Braley had raised the funds between July 1 and Sept. 30. Giertz did not say how much cash Braley has in his account. Full campaign finance reports are due to federal authorities on Oct. 15.
Braley is locked in a competitive race against Republican Joni Ernst. An Ernst spokeswoman declined to provide fundraising figures.
A recent poll from the Des Moines Register showed Ernst taking the lead. The Iowa Poll showed Ernst with support from 44 percent of likely voters, compared to 38 percent for Braley. The survey of 546 likely voters, conducted by Selzer & Co., had a margin of error of 4.2 percentage points.
