A Denison, Iowa, woman died after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near the town.
Asuncion Guzman Ramos, 61, was flown by helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where she died.
According to the Iowa State Patrol:
A 2003 Suzuki Vitara driven by Ruben Ramirez, 28, of Omaha was northbound on U.S. Highway 59 at 6:15 a.m. near Denison.
The compact sport-utility vehicle went off the road and onto the gravel shoulder, then came back onto the roadway where it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, striking a southbound 2003 Oldsmobile Alero driven by Marilu Nava, 41, of Denison. Guzman Ramos was a backseat passenger in the Alero.
Also injured in the crash were Alero passengers Michaela Sanchez, 46, and Rachelle Zavala, 30, both of Denison. Both were wearing seat belts. Ramirez was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Iowa State Patrol. All involved were taken to Crawford County Memorial Hospital. None of the other injuries were life-threatening.
Denison is in Crawford County about 70 miles northeast of Omaha.
