MACEDONIA, Iowa — A Macedonia woman received stitches after a dog attack Wednesday.
Kalynn Greene, 20, was walking her dog when an unrestrained boxer became aggressive, said Pottawattamie County animal control supervisor Corbin Ranslem.
The boxer tried to attack Greene's small-breed dog, but she was in the way, Ranslem said.
“She somehow got mixed up in the brawl,” Ranslem said, who was unsure whether Greene intervened on purpose.
Greene was bitten on the right knee and received stitches at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital.
The boxer's owner, Katherine Yopp, corralled the dog shortly afterward, taking it inside the building on Main Street where both women live. A Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office deputy took the dog to a veterinarian clinic in Oakland for quarantine to test for dog-to-human communicable diseases.
Yopp reportedly told authorities that the boxer's rabies shots are up to date.
