Authorities arrested a 35-year-old man Monday in connection with a Sunday night hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian injured.
Geoffrey A. Marshall turned himself into police and was booked into jail on suspicion of leaving the scene of a personal injury collision resulting in serious injuries, a felony.
Police say Marshall fled from the scene in a Green 1997 Pontiac Bonneville after striking a truck already involved in a two-vehicle accident. The truck Marshall's car struck plowed into Laura Richwine, 21, a bystander trying to help the crash victims, Omaha Police Sgt. Joe Collins said.
The accident happened at the intersection of 44th and Dodge Streets about 10:40 p.m. Sunday.
Emergency responders took Richwine to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition. She suffered a broken right femur. Her injuries don't appear to be life-threatening, Collins said.
