Man pleads no contest in string of Norfolk burglaries

  • 0

NORFOLK, Neb. — A Norfolk man accused of committing 19 burglaries has pleaded no contest to seven charges.

Richard Scrivner, 43, pleaded no contest to one count of attempted burglary and six counts of burglary — all felonies — as part of a plea agreement.

He will be sentenced Oct. 25.

Vehicles, electronics, cash and other items were taken in the burglaries of businesses in Norfolk and Battle Creek. Police used video surveillance, confidential informants, GPS tracking on vehicles and shoe prints to identify Scrivner as a suspect.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office, Norfolk police and the Nebraska State Patrol worked together on the case.
