Funeral services have been set for a 14-year-old high school freshman who died Friday after being hit by a sport utility vehicle while he was running.
Visitation for Tristan White will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, 1221 N. 16th St. in Council Bluffs. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church, 20794 Iowa Highway 92 in Council Bluffs.
White was struck and killed about 4 p.m. by a southbound 2003 Jeep Liberty as he was running with two Treynor (Iowa) High School wrestling teammates, the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office said. They were running south on a gravel road a few miles south of Treynor.
Tristan was taken by helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep was not ticketed, but the investigation is ongoing, according to a statement Monday from the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office.
