COUNCIL BLUFFS – An Albuquerque, N.M., man who reportedly had 320 pounds of marijuana in his possession when he was pulled over by an Iowa State Patrol trooper in January has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Oscar Salinas-Olivas, 34, was also sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John Jarvey to 12 concurrent months for violation of a federally supervised release from New Mexico.

On May 8, Salinas-Olivas pleaded guilty to these charges, which came about from a traffic stop for speeding on Jan. 16. A vehicle search found the large amount of marijuana. He was on supervised release from New Mexico for a 2010 conviction of being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm.
