A 21-year-old motorcyclist is in critical condition with a head injury after colliding with another vehicle Monday night in South Omaha.

Steven Gerren of Ralston is at Nebraska Medical Center for multiple critical injuries including possible bleeding of the brain and a fracture to his right arm.

At 8:20 p.m., Gerren was riding a 2002 Honda HF4 motorcycle westbound on L Street. He was traveling at a high rate of speed, Omaha police said.

Gerren collided with the right rear side of a 2011 Hyundai Sonota that was turning left from eastbound L Street to northbound 45th Street.

The driver of the Hyundai, Tobin H. Grim, 78, was not injured, and the front passenger, Janet M. Grim, 74, had minor pain.

Gerren was wearing a helmet, police said, but did not have a motorcycle endorsement.
