A man abducted his toddler son from a north-central Omaha grocery store Tuesday after he assaulted another person there, police said.

The 2-year-old boy, E’Lin J. Brown, was dropped off at his great-grandmother's house about five hours later. Police said they were trying to determine who arrived with the boy, who was unharmed.

The boy's father, Elwin E. Brown, 26, was at large early Wednesday.

Brown drove the boy from the Hy-Vee at 7910 Cass St. about 6:45 p.m., police said.

Brown has an outstanding felony arrest warrant for false imprisonment and a protection order prohibits him from contacting his son.
